Supermasochist Lasagna

Drinking steak eyes
from pleasure grinders’ device.
BDSM needles
caress your genitalia.

Shackled crawling pincer.

Cock mirror suit man/
hey look…its blood skin Bob Flanagan
anticipating flesh fertilizer nude.

Reclining garden/
undress for the sin clamp machinery.
Camera ecstasy supermasochist/
emerging dead decrescendo.

Torture lasagna
of his thousand electrostimulation/
drilling pain starts clean.

*Note: The following poem is an influence and based interpretation
of ‘Nine Inch Nails’ music video ‘Happiness in Slavery’.
‘YouTube’ has restricted the video for obvious reasons.
Please click the link blew and see why I choose to give
my own interpretation of the music video.
I love the song and the message behind it. Enjoy.

    1. Thank you Bojana.

Music always finds its way to our emotional state of mind. As for the different forms of slavery? I like that. 🙂

hahahahaha!!! Glad the title had you on a good laugh. I didn’t know how much anyone would respond to the poem. Happy its doing well.

      1. That video was disturbing. While I am open to most music, this doesn’t fall into my preferred genre.
The poem goes with it extremely well (yes, for once, I got it). I will never understand the attraction to this lifestyle!

        1. Thank you Dale for your honesty. I love it.

True. This may not be for all but I thought I try something different in style of writing which I’m not use to but I gave it a try. 🙂

I agree…I’ll never understand the attraction either.

Glad you enjoyed the poem. I’ve been trying out different approaches to writing and the next one will be different but not like this. 🙂

          1. Glad you do (I don’t do the fake love/hate thing).

I actually enjoyed what you did with this

It’s a weird world for some!

                1. You are most generous to say so.
This is why I have tried my hand… I’m best at the no rules variety 😉

  1. Charlie, this poem ‘nails’ the feeling of watching that video. A supermasochist lasagne indeed. Love how you’ve given such flesh searing words to the music video. It’s perfectly fitting and brilliantly put together.

    1. Thank you, Rachel.

Glad you enjoyed my interpretation take on the music video. I wanted to pay tribute to ‘Trent Reznor’ and his contribution to music and the arts. 🙂

As for the title…that is what everyone is talking about. hahahaha!!! Plus, the video speaks volumes. 🙂

  2. I feel like I actually watched the video even if I haven’t. May I asked? How did you even managed to find that video in the first place? haha

Also, I featured you in one of my blog. You might want to check it out. ♥️

    1. Since ‘YouTube’ has been cracking down on videos like this…the only other way to find it was through ‘Google’ search and vimeo had it on their possession. 🙂

I will stop by later and check it out. 🙂 Looking forward to your post. 🙂

  3. Wow… this was intense, Charlie. When I was watching the video I couldn’t help but think that some people love attaching themselves to suffering and what hurts them (lies, ignorance, etc.) Your words paired well with it.

    1. Performance artist putting or hanging themselves in suspension is a fascinating of pain and pleasure to them.

I’m glad my interpretation of the music video helped separate the shock from the poetic imagery itself. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Zara.

I wish ‘YouTube’ hadn’t taken this down on their end. They had it before until they started cracking down on shocking videos as this.

Thanks to Vimeo for posting it on their site and giving ‘Nine Inch Nails’ their freedom of expression through art. 🙂

Glad you enjoyed the music video. 🙂

  4. ……………………Charlie,

Thank You for your kindness !

I watched the video and read your poem several times
and all I can do is question if you’ve picked the right moment
to go so far off base. Seriously, you’ve turned your back
to the headlights of heaven and you’re deep in the shadows.
I understand the need to escape the cookie cutter world.
I understand the energy in NIN.
The need to step outside the circle——
Charlie in big boy pants (?)

    1. ………….Michael,

Thank you so much for your incredibleness!

      Several steps to watch over
      the energy unfold
and yet you question the cutter video?

Your world is way too deep and way too serious!

The headlights outside poem your poem is a big if.

The cookie you describe are circle shadows in heaven.

  5. Trent Reznor and Charlie Zero. A marriage made in a dark, intellectual dimension. I adored this Charlie. You captured so much of his voice and aesthetic but made it your own.

    I’m so fond of:

    Reclining garden/
undress for the sin clamp machinery.
    Camera ecstasy supermasochist/
    emerging dead decrescendo.

    Just wow my friend.

    1. Thank you, April.

I wanted to capture the pain and pleasure of BDSM.
but, in the eyes of Bob Flanagan and the overall experience
      of his pleasure and submission.

Watching the music video a bunch of times…Trent and the arts of the video – Influenced my state of mind to push my writing abilities to the next level. Something I’m not comfortable with. But, I did it and I’m glad everyone is responding well. 🙂

Glad you enjoyed those lines…It’s also my favorite as well. 🙂

  6. Wowed as always Charlie… I think what I love best here is the friendly discussion you generate, and allow to propagate. Some kind of mad, kind, artful genius… you have my vote on that, and many hugs for it. :))) 💕🤗 🌱🌻

  7. Some performance artists remind me of the confessional poets in that they put their pain (and pleasure) on display. I have often worried that the audience (or reader) is culpable in these acts of physical and psychic violence because we drive the consumption of private lives. What price do the confessors pay or are they liberated through truthful expression? This has been amplified through reality tv and widespread sharing of personal video. I think you approach this quandary with a clear understanding of the role of the artist and audience and the complexity of the entire experience. Your poem is meta meta; an interpretation of a musician’s interpretation of a performance artist’s work. As such it encapsulates an appropriate metamodern stance, both self aware, sincere, and tongue in cheek all at once. Impressive!

    1. Thank you, Anna.

      To answer your question:

“What price do the confessors pay or are they liberated through truthful expression?”

I’m guessing to my knowledge its through liberate truthful expression. However, it varies to one’s own experience in what they went through in life or must of done something awful that they resort through confessing. Then again, those types of people love pain for whatever reason.

  8. Charlie, before I even read the poem, I looked at the title and burst out laughing so hard!! Thank you for the belly laugh! I just had to say that real quick before I dive head first into this otherworldly experience that I already know your poem will be.

    1. Wow, that was dark!! I couldn’t help but feel pain as I was reading this entire piece, but I can’t help but imagine that some become addicted to the pleasure this type of BDSM invokes.

      1. Glad you enjoyed this side of my writing style. I’m not use to it but, in this case I needed to push my writing to that level.

It’s a rare thing to dive deep into that world of BDSM. I know a few rare people in this world of ours really enjoys the pain and submission that follows.

  9. I think I’m the masochist here!
    It’s the concoction connection.
You see, I LOVE lasagna. I haven’t made it for a long time., but I wandered into the pleasure grinder and made one.
Even it being a veggie lasagna, it’s one heavy feast. I can’t control my portion.
I knew better. I nibbled all night.
The sin clamp had me in bends in the morning. Drilling pain and torture confused me.
I saw a rooster and a lobster in my mirror.

Great vid, Charlie! Just love the nails!

    1. You are not alone, watt.

I wanted to interpret my own interpretation of the music video itself but giving it my own spin. Plus, I wanted to try something different within the writing process. Yes, its way off from anything I’ve done and out of my comfort zone. Don’t worry my work changes all the time. 🙂

Glad you at least enjoyed the poem itself.

  10. Love that you are using the links First time I had heard of the film or the music.. The Dark and Light, all part of the experience programme.. 🙂 All a matter of choice… 🙂 Sending thoughts Charlie… Take care.
